A first for automotive retailing, the new Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid will feature a Real Time Cinematic Configurator. This streaming cloud-based application uses gaming technology to help customers expertly build their new Mitsubishi Motors vehicle. Next, they can see it in motion. Cool, we say. Napleton News is all about video games, vehicle configurators and what not. Let’s see what they’re talking about.
Mitsubishi has been collaborating with ZeroLight, and their cloud-based plug-and-play visualization platform for some time. ZeroLight’s visualization platform compliments Mitsubishi Motors’ ClickShop digital showroom app. This latest partnership revealed a world-first real-time cinematic configurator experience.
Here, buyers can build the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid of their dreams and then watch it travel along photorealistic mountain passes. Here, consumers can view changing light and other situations they would likely encounter. In other words, you get to see your new Plug-in Hybrid on the highway, before it actually gets there. And the best part: If you don’t like one color, or trim level on the Outlander, change it and start over again.
“Our goal is to elevate the customer experience (for) both a competitive advantage and a customer benefit,” said Kim Ito, MMNA V.P., Marketing. “Through our partnership with ZeroLight, we can now offer a more interesting and connected way for consumers to shop and purchase Mitsubishi vehicles.” Ito continued by offering how the program dovetails nicely with the existing ClickShop digital showroom experience. It’s the latest evidence of Mitsubishi’s drive to lead the industry with advanced technology.
In a prior collaboration, Mitsubishi Motors and ZeroLight partnered to offer an interactive real-time 3D experience for customers to explore the new 2022 Outlander in five virtual environments. The sales aid exceeded expectations with 75% of the campaign goal taken within the first 24 hours. By the time the program was completed, the team achieved 236% of its expected goal.
The new Real-Time configurator allows an on-the-move look at the new Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid. Once the buyer has configured the vehicle as they like it, they can save their choices to a personalized microsite that features computer-generated images and videos that can be uploaded and shared on social media.
The best part is the configurator includes a hidden layer that allows Mitsubishi to surprise and delight the customers with added details and features as time goes by.
And who doesn’t like a surprise?
