Hyundai Ioniq5 AWD Limited
Among the latest models from Hyundai, the Ioniq5 AWD Limited is attracting attention. But hold on a second! You’re likely wondering, “What’s the fuss?” I’m afraid you’re incorrect, my friend. Stay tuned as Napleton News gives you the full story.
Constructed using Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the IONIQ5 is one of Hyundai’s new electric crossover vehicles. Hyundai’s 320-horsepower dual electric motor powertrain and all-wheel drive are the motivating forces behind it. Its range is an impressive 303 miles. Twenty-inch custom alloy wheels add to the car’s commanding presence.
The car has an external finish known as Digital Teal. Think of it as more of a muted greenish gray. It’s highlighted by black H logos.
The Hyundai IONIQ5 offers a sleek and subtle design, a welcome change from the more flamboyant electric vehicles on the market. Alternatively, we have something resembling a sporty four-door coupe or an SUV. In fact, speaking of SUVs, the IONIQ 5 has a larger wheelbase than its gas-powered brother, the Hyundai Palisade.
Subtle matrix markings around the IONIQ5 help to define it and stand out from the EV crowd. Part of this allure is because of the lighting seen around the vehicle, especially when charging at night. The front “grille” features a light bar that illuminates when the car is plugged in for charging.
Under the charging port hatch is the new Tesla-based North American Charging Standard (NACS) plug that will be on many electric vehicles moving forward
Ensconced in comfort, IONIQ 5 passengers enjoy the vehicle’s handsome, black on black leather interior, it is calming in its earthiness. The seats are surprisingly comfortable with good support for the long haul. Thank goodness, they are equipped with ventilated seats in front. It’s just the thing to keep Florida summers at bay.
There’s a clean spread of space across the dashboard, which spans to the vehicle’s centerline console. The look is good, but the controls can be a bit daunting. Some require double clicks to activate, while others react after a single click. It takes a while to learn but then becomes second nature.
Cargo area in back is about average for a standard passenger SUV. If you need more room, just flip the rear seats forward. If you need even more, there is a small storage container in the frunk. (The trunk in front.)
Following the Ioniq 5’s characteristic startup sound, it’s just a matter of selecting a gear and departing. Where’s the gearshift? It has a modern, rotating gear selector; you twist it to select either drive or reverse. After that, it automatically returns to its starting position for the following command. It will only take a couple of minutes to get accustomed to it.
Motion will bring the quiet. Pedestrians will be alerted to the vehicle’s presence by a quiet, subtle chime. Acceleration is stellar thanks to the dual electric motors powering the ‘5. Handling is stout, too, thanks to the well-tuned e-GMP chassis.
The best part about the IONIQ 5 is pulling up to a streetlight where a Mustang and Challenger are poised to launch. The light turns green, the pedals are mashed and once again, a little electric vehicle hands them their lunch. The acceleration is that potent.
