2025 Infiniti QX80 Autograph SUV

QX80 twisties

A massive beast of an SUV, the new 2025 Infiniti QX80 Autograph breaks new ground where the brand has never been before. Besides being all-new with better power, more space and a more contemporary style, it is also one of the most massive appearing SUVs we have seen. But here at Napleton News, we are all about being large and in-charge. Hop in for a joy ride in the new QX80!

What’s under the hood?

The new QX80 goes out on a limb this time, incorporating a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that it shares with its cousin, the Nissan Armada. Unlike the Armada, the QX80 makes 450 horsepower and 515 lb-ft of torque. The engine is governed by a 9-speed automatic transmission and since this is the Autograph model, it includes all-wheel drive as standard.

The new QX50 has all the latest technology features including various drive modes, adaptive suspension and invisible hood view. Wait for it: It’s one of those voodoo-like things that combines the use of all external cameras and helps to “see” through the hood. This way, you can avoid hitting curbs, running off the road or even missing pets or other little shavers.

Incidentally, the 2025 Infiniti QX80 can tow a substantial 8,000 pounds.

How does the Infiniti QX80 look?

Massively sized: the new 2025 INFINITI QX80.

In a phrase, similar but better. The new QX80 features a more streamlined and sophisticated look over the outgoing model. That means there are many add-ons like LED lighting, a more contemporary headlight arrangement, a welcoming rear light bar and flush door handles that suck into their locations for a slipstream body effect.

Many large SUVs are offered with running boards to aid in passenger entry and exit. They usually result in dirty pants legs that rub up against them. They are a waste of time, effort and laundry. Thanks to being the correct height, properly placed grab handles and more, on the QX80, these running boards actually work.

How about the new interior of the QX80?

double wide screens
The double-wide 14.3-inch screens in the QX80.

The elephant in the room of the new QX80 is the double-wide screens, which are actually two 14.3-inch screens melded together. They display the driver information gauges and Navigation, Cellular connectivity, audio and more. Just below is a climate control panel and a Qi wireless charging pad.

Speaking of cooling, Infiniti pushes the envelope with Biometric Cooling. Infrared sensors in the headliner can sense if someone is getting a little “hot under the collar.” This causes the air conditioning system to send some BTUs towards that passenger. We think it’s a cool idea. Yes, that was a pun.

The second row of the new QX80.

Inside, there is seating for seven (or eight if opting for the second row bench seat). Since our tester is the high-zoot Autograph model, the second row seating offers power adjustments and massaging functions, just like the first row. Third row seating is still best for the little guys who can charge their iPhones with the USB-C outlets there.

Back between the front seats, the cubby below your armrest turns into a cooler that can handle a six-pack of sodas. If there is a flaw in the interior, it is when trying to recall the seating and mirror positioning switch: You must put the car in park first, before pushing the switch to your personal preset settings.

It’s larger than large. In fact, it is downright massive. But this imposing beast is just what Infiniti needs at this moment. With a product line that was getting admittedly long-in-the-tooth, it was about time something new rolled down the pike. The QX80 was the answer.

Power from the twin turbo V6 is the perfect way to start. It’s a good replacement for the outgoing V8 and will save a bit of fuel in the long run. It’s not that it was a issue before choosing such a big ride but you get our drift.

Handling is decent although we did find times where the QX acted a little “boat-like” during some highway cruising in the normal or comfort mode. It was when we switched over to sport that the feel was more to our liking.

The new QX80 is long overdue in the lineup. The question now is whether or not it got here in time. That’s for the market to decide.
