The Jeep Gladiator Mojave Review

It’s a few years into its run, but the Jeep Gladiator Mojave is surprising us left and right. What is a Gladiator, you ask? For those who have been living under a rock for the past five years, the Gladiator is a pickup truck based on the Jeep Wrangler. Here, at Napleton News, we’re all about the pickup. Especially when it’s rough, tumble and strong, like the Gladiator. And like that other famous It’s time for your Spartacus moment so hop in and let’s discuss.

What’s the Jeep Gladiator Mojave all about?

The Jeep Gladiator Mojave is the perfect vehicle for those who need a billy goat of a ride that can do more than just haul people. Think of this as the love child of a Wrangler and a Ram 1500.

The Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 available in the Jeep Gladiator Mojave.

In prior years, the Jeep Gladiator offered a diesel engine option. That was then, and this is now: The only engine available for 2024 is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It’s no slouch but it isn’t a HEMI either. A six-speed manual transmission is standard although our sample included a Mopar 850RE 8-speed automatic transmission that comes with a $2,500 upcharge. Besides the standard Gladiator kit, the Mojave is equipped for desert running with dedicated suspension parts from the Fox company. Besides running through the sand dunes, the Gladiator Mojave can ford a stream up to 30 inches deep.

New for 2024 on the Jeep Gladiator is a slightly revised grille. In keeping with tradition, the seven slots are still here, just as on every Jeep. The antenna now hides in the windshield, which adds to the curb appeal.

As with other Jeep Wrangler derivatives, there are plenty of removable parts. These include a fold-down windshield, the doors, and even the roof. It’s the perfect thing for those who like to drive al fresco, should the desire strike!

The inside line of the new Gladiator

The new 2024 Gladiator offers many similarities seen in the previous versions but adds new features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen display. That new screen brings with it Jeep’s Uconnect 5 infotainment system offering smartphone connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM and Navigation. Oh, and we can’t forget the Alpine premium audio system. It actually sounds pretty good, pumping out the tunes with a definitive clarity.

While the base version offers manual windows, regular air conditioning and manual seating, the Mojave brings pretty much power everything to the table. There are cupholders galore, and pockets on the door panels. There’s even underseat storage under the rear seat!

2024 Jeep Gladiator Mojave

It’s a whole new world with the new Jeep Gladiator Mojave. That means it drives and rides in a more refined manner than ever before. Gone is the constant thrum that comes from big knobby off-road tires. Gone too, is the antenna that gets tangled up in brush as you negotiate a tightly turned trail. Instead, you’ll find a very refined vehicle that is better than the model it replaces in almost every way. Interior noise is kept to a minimum, thanks to some apparent sound deadening that has found its way into the cabin.

What you will get in the new Gladiator Mojave is a truck that can go the distance when the road ends. And it can carry plenty of stuff while doing it. The cargo bed has    a payload capacity of 1,725 pounds. And if you hang a ball hitch on the back, it can tow up to 7,700 pounds.
