Kia Telluride

A winner from the  get-go, the Kia Telluride X-Pro AWD has long been one of Napleton News’s favorite vehicles. It provides the right amount of ruggedness with plenty of cargo space and seating for up to seven passengers. The only thing missing is you, so hop in for a quick look-see at what Kia’s flagship SUV offers.

New Kia Telluride X-Pro AWD: Still good after all these years.

On dealer’s lots since 2020, the Telluride has had, er, quite the ride. Innovative as it was when first introduced, it has continued to improve through the addition of the latest technology and features.

Power for the Telluride gives you one choice: That’s a 3.8-liter V6 delivering 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It matches up with an 8-speed automatic transmission with standard front wheel or available all-wheel drive. That’s how our Telluride X-Pro AWD was equipped. Because it’s an X-Pro, it’s good to tow 5,500 pounds, while all others can tow 5,000.

While not exactly a speed demon, the Kia Telluride can get out of its own way and run 0-60 in seven seconds. That’s good for highway on-ramp hijinks that won’t stress the driver or the passengers.

Looks that thrill, The Telluride Does it again!

Although boxy by its nature, the new Kia Telluride offers a contemporary look at the modern sport utility vehicle. Because it’s the X-Pro, it comes with a variety of special features that don’t make their way onto the more pedestrian versions. Here, we’re talking 20-inch painted alloy wheels, dual sunroofs a power liftgate and more.

LED projector headlamps, taillights and fog lights let you see, while rear privacy glass makes it so others can’t. This SUV is so well equipped, that you won’t need anything else.

The interior of the 2025 Kia Telluride.

The ‘ride has undergone some changes since first appearing back in 2020. One of the most evident points of change occurred in the inside of this ute. Yes, we’re talking about twin 12.3-inch screens that sit side-by-side. The result is a look that stretches nearly two-thirds of the way across the entire dashboard.

From an aural standpoint, we enjoyed listening to the high-dollar Harman/Kardon premium audio system. Luckily, it’s included in the cost of the X-Pro package. Seating-wise, the front seats are both heated and ventilated. So are the second-row captain’s chairs. That’s a win in both rows! Too bad if you need to sit in the third row!

A push button start is all that is needed to get underway in this land yacht. But, the good thing is it doesn’t feel like one. Instead, it’s a well-sorted, decent handling machine. The 3.8-liter V6 is smooth and refined, as we have come to expect. We hope that one day, the powers that be see fit to turbocharge this powerplant for some added oomph. Trust us, oomph is good.

The interior is utterly silent when it needs to be. Sure, the 18-inch tires can pick up a bit of road noise when pressed, but generally, they are very quiet. Optimized for the Telluride’s AWD system, they bring surefootedness to almost every road surface. The seats offer great comfort for the long haul and are especially handy with their heating and ventilation features. Remember, here in South Florida, we use the air-conditioned seats even in the middle of winter.

A vehicle hold switch is in the mix with the Kia and can become annoying. When active, it prevents the vehicle from creeping forward while waiting for a stoplight or other cars. That’s good. What’s annoying is when your vehicle is next in line and you need to really step on the gas to disengage the hold. We found it easier to operate by pushing the hold button to its off position and just letting the car “creep” like all the old ones used to.
