Tokyo-based automaker Mitsubishi recently announced an all-new concept car called the Mi-Tech. The vehicle is modest in size and designed to be an efficient plug-in hybrid electric SUV that delivers unparalleled driving pleasure and confidence, according to a Mitsubishi press release.
“We are dedicated to electrification technology, particularly plug-in hybrids (PHEVs),” said Takao Kato, chief executive officer of Mitsubishi Motors. “We will be expanding our lineup of electrified vehicles by delivering more variations and leveraging the diverse electrification technology in the alliance to make [Mitsubishi] the leader in the PHEV category going forward.”
While the buggy design of the Mi-Tech is certainly futuristic, car-enthusiasts are curious to know how efficient the vehicle will be and how serious Mitsubishi is when it comes to producing this concept car. Highlights of the Mi-Tech include:
The interior focuses on a centrally-located horizontal instrument panel designed to make accessing the infotainment easy, safe and reliable. The horizontal theme is further accentuated by copper lines added on the instrument panel and steering wheel, according to the press release.
Finally, the Mi-Tech concept car will have a long list of modern safety features, and it will also include an electric 4-wheel drive system. Since all components of the vehicle are electric, you can expect all components of the driving experience to be extremely responsive. Accelerating, braking, and turning will each come with pinpoint accuracy so drivers who are used to traditional gas-powered vehicles will have to adjust.
