Great news for Acura RDX drivers who don’t own an iPhone. Android Auto support is now available through an over the air software update for all 2019 and 2020 RDX models.
Previously, the Acura RDX only supported Apple CarPlay connectivity, much to the dismay of anybody who happens to own a Google Pixel or any other smartphone that runs Android.
This update will benefit Android phone users who want to seamlessly connect their smartphones to their respective RDX so they can stay connected on the go. Android Auto allows the driver to easily access navigation, messaging, music, and apps through the RDX’s infotainment screen.
The update is free and fairly straightforward. After starting up the car, the touchpad interface will show a “System Update” button. The driver can then hit “Accept” and begin the update through the vehicle’s 4G LTE Wi-Fi.
Acura RDX owners who prefer more detailed instructions can find them at https://owners.acura.com/vehicles/subscriptions-downloads-updates. Otherwise, any Acura dealership will assist customers who wish to have their RDX updated by a professional.
Before deciding whether or not you want to take your RDX in, take a look at this instructional video created by The Wheel Network:
