The 3 Series lineup is not exactly the newest in the BMW portfolio. But when the new 2023 BMW 3 Series debuts, there will be none fresher. Now into its seventh generation, the new BMW 3-Series is filled with new, refreshed looks, new technology and a new interior design. Napleton News received advanced notice and we are now passing it on to you.
Long known for its driving prowess, the BMW 3 Series has been the benchmark judged by all others for more than 45 years. The heart and soul of the brand, it took over from the legendary Model 2002 tii in 1977. Now built at BMW’s newest plant in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, there are more than 1.1 million versions of the vehicle on the road today. But BMW is not content to leave well enough alone. They announced a 2023 model with a host of new and desirable features.
Drivetrains are a significant selling point for the new 3 Series. Start with the 2-liter TwinPower turbocharged 4-cylinder in the 330i. It delivers substantial power and fuel economy. It’s augmented with the 330e plug-in hybrid for those who appreciate additional acceleration with the potentiality of zero-emissions power delivery. Finally, returning from its 2022 introduction, the 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-6 is back with its 48V mild-hybrid technology. The BMW 3 Series is available with xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive for those living in areas where the winter gets tough.
Additionally, the new 3 Series can be enhanced with the optional M Sport package on 330i and 330e models. An M3 and M3 Competition model will also be on offer before long.
A subtle update has occurred with the new 3 Series that continues to emphasize sportiness and driver pleasure over all else. Start with the BMW kidney grille and twin headlight accents. They have all been strategically upgraded and redesigned for added intensity.
The headlights have been slimmed down and redesigned with clear contours and new daylight running lights in an inverted L-shape for a more modern look. In addition to the newly-restyled grille, new ventilation ducts have been installed to deliver cool air to the front brakes.
The new M Sport packages offer more style and power than ever. Deep air curtains at the front enhance the width while providing airflow over the front wheels. The M Sport Suspension includes variable sport steering and more, while the Adaptive M Suspension with electronic damping can be spec’d in place of the M Sport Suspension on the 330i models. It is available as a standalone feature or part of the Dynamic Handling Package.
The centerpiece of the new 3 Series is the large BMW Curved Display. The new cutting-edge design allows for the reduction of buttons previously seen throughout the cockpit. Using voice and touch controls, drivers can operate many functions without distractions.
The standard BMW Curved Display is a new way of looking at things inside your BMW. Angled slightly towards the driver, it includes a 12.3-inch information display behind the steering wheel. That screen merges into a 14.9-inch control display for a single, high-definition unit that stretches across the dashboard.
All-new BMW vehicles are standard with an 8-speed automatic transmission operated by a toggle lever located on the center console.
Now sporting BMW iDrive with BMW Operating System 8, the new 3 Series handles connectivity and data processing faster than ever. According to BMW, drivers experience multi-mode control of the vehicle, along with infotainment, communications, and navigation functions in an easy, intuitive way.
Working in conjunction with the BMW Curved Display and the Intelligent Personal Assistant, it is geared to work with touch control and natural speech. Designed with a smartphone-styled appearance, the curved screen’s layout can be varied according to your driving style.
These improvements will become available when the new 2023 BMW 3 Series is launched in July 2022.
