Motor Trend Magazine has named the new 2020 Chevrolet Corvette “Motor Trend Car of the Year.” The magazine named the new redefined mid-engine Corvette Stingray as among the very best in the world and has done so for the third time in Corvette’s history.

Previously awarded in 1984 and 1998, the newest piece of hardware for the GM display case was given to Tadge Juechter, Corvette executive chief engineer and Michael Simcoe, General Motors VP of Global Design at Motor Trend headquarters, Monday, November 18, 2019, in El Segundo, California.

AN HONOR TO RECEIVE IT

Juechter, who is typically mild-mannered, said, “It’s an honor for the Corvette team to receive this coveted award from Motor Trend. Citing how many other candidates there are in the industry, he added to have a third party validate our hard work makes it all worthwhile.

2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

There have been many mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette concept cars through the years, but the 2020 model is the first-ever production-intended Corvette, which also just happens to be the most powerful entry-level Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Yeah, you ask? How fast? How about a 0-60 mph time of 2.9 seconds when ordered with the Z51 high-performance package.
