The All-new Genesis G80
New for this year, the Genesis G80 incorporates design elements of the Genesis Logo, that are mimicked by the “Crest Grille” and double-lined quadlamps. They will now be part of the signature look of the Genesis brand. Scheduled to debut in the Korean market in March, the new G80 will feature an all-new platform, new powertrain(s), and high-tech systems.
This new, third-generation, G80 executive luxury sedan displays the new designs emanating from the logo itself. “The crest of the logo becomes the Crest Grille and the two lines of the wings become the Quadlamps. “In other words, the design starts with the brand and design is the brand,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Executive Vice President and chief design officer for Hyundai Motor Group.
The all-new G80 is the core component of the Genesis model lineup and is a unique look at the modern midsized-luxury sedan. The new design elements, as seen on the G80, were revealed to Napleton.news in Miami Beach during the debut of the Genesis GV80 SUV.
Proportions are such that they present a perfect look at a classic sports sedan design that lends itself to classic rear drive proportions. The lateral features include a long sweeping parabolic line from front to rear that flows gently downward, reminiscent of classic cars from the past. Sharp, athletic lines emphasize a powerful stance that is only enhanced by the large 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the G80 exercises the “Beauty of White Space.” This, according to designer Sang Yup Lee of Hyundai Design, helps to achieve the perfect balance between personal space and state of the art technology. “Technology should not dominate and only present itself when necessary,” said Lee.
The all-new Genesis G80 will debut this month and feature a new design, platform, powertrains and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Contact your local Napleton Genesis dealership for more information.
