Honda Is Such A Tease!

Today, It was clearly evident that Honda is such a tease with their new Honda Civic Type R. They teased a Civic Type R displayed in full camouflage. Honda knows full well that fans of the brand are chomping at the bit for any new product news. The company released a series of two photos showing the new Civic Type R before its shakedown cruise on the Nurburgring circuit in Germany. It was fully clad in red and black camouflage, and it presented quite the sight as it sat near the 13-mile-long race circuit in Germany. Many auto manufacturers use the famous circuit to evaluate production and racing cars before their release to their respective customers.

Honda is such a tease in remaining tight-lipped at the moment, but Napleton News readers will remember the last generation of the Civic Type R set a lap record for front-wheel drive vehicles on the epic race course of 7 minutes and 43.8 seconds at the track during 2017 testing. The record stood for two years until being broken by a French-built Renault Megane RS. That car shaved a few seconds off, completing the course in 7 minutes 40.1 seconds.

Honda Teases But Keeps Mum

The 2023 Honda Civic Type R.

Technical details of what makes the Type R run are being held close to the vest at the moment. We expect the new 2022 Honda Civic Type R to have at least 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It features VTEC variable valve timing and its power delivered to the front tires. A six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential handles gear change duties on the Type R.

The previous Type R model included such features as lightweight, forged aluminum wheels from BBS. Engineers have removed almost 30 pounds of sound deadening material and other features like a rear wiper, rear tonneau cover and heating ductwork in the rear of the cabin. Specially tuned and recalibrated steering for maximum handling control and driver feedback.

Honda will release the new Honda Civic Type R in early 2022.
