Hyundai Tucson & Veloster Earn Top Ranks In J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study

The 2020 U.S. J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) revealed that the Hyundai Tucson and Veloster each ranked first for their respective vehicle segments.

The Tucson was recognized for the best compact SUV in initial quality while the Veloster stood out with the best score for a compact sporty car.

“Outperforming the best vehicles in a segment is always a major milestone for Hyundai,” said Barry Ratzlaf, chief customer officer at Hyundai Motor America.

J.D. Power’s study evaluated responses from 87,282 drivers who have either purchased or leased a 2020 model Tucson or Veloster. After three months of ownership, surveyors from the IQS followed up to ask drivers about their experience to evaluate consumer satisfaction.

“These accomplishments are a testament to the entire company’s dedication, including design, engineering, manufacturing, service, field teams, and our dealer partners, to deliver the highest quality vehicles to our customers,” said Ratzlaf.

It’s so important for drivers to feel comfortable behind the wheel from the start. Everybody knows that it can take some time to really connect with a new car. The IQS evaluates just how quickly drivers adapt, and models with high scores find favor with drivers in a quick manner.

“The Initial Quality Study is the industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality and, year after year, automakers apply the insights they learn from consumers to make positive changes,” said Dave Sargent, vice president of automotive quality at J.D. Power.

Hyundai has definitely listened to what customers have had to say when it comes to the design, features, and safety of both the Tucson and Veloster. That’s why the Korean automaker paid particularly close attention to that customer feedback when designing the 2020 models.

The Ed Napleton Automotive Group has seven Hyundai dealerships in the United States. Those who are interested in the 2020 Tucson and 2020 Veloster can take advantage of the group’s Accelerate America program, which allows you to purchase or lease a model entirely online.
