AT NAPLETON NEWS: THE NEW HYUNDAI TUCSON LAUNCH

Hyundai introduced the new Hyundai Tucson compact SUV on a Monday night back in September, to a global audience. At Napleton.news, we found out this new Hyundai is loaded with best-in-segment features and other class-leading capabilities. It might just be your next new vehicle!

But don’t rush to your dealership just yet. The new Hyundai Tucson you see here will go on sale in South Korea at the end of September 2020 as a 2021 model while we will get it here in the middle of next year as a 2022 model.

HYUNDAI TUCSON AND ITS NEW FORWARD-THINKING EXTERIOR DESIGN

Hyundai’s ever-evolving Sensuous Sportiness design is used here and features new kinetic jewel surface details to pronounce Tucson’s identity in what has become an increasingly crowded segment. Combining the integration of technologies and design with an owner’s lifestyles is the goal of the new Tucson. A prime example is the innovative half-mirror-like daylight running lights (DRLs) that assimilate seamlessly within the Parametric grille. The innovation becomes visible as it is only seen when illuminated.

From the side, it’s clear this isn’t the same Hyundai Tucson as previously designed. Now available in regular and extended wheelbases, it features crisp geometric angles and edges as well as defining wedge shapes that help set it apart from all other competitors. Especially notable are the chrome character lines that start at the side mirrors and trace the roofline with a gradual increase in width, representing increasing speed as it nears the Tucson’s C-pillar.

INNER SANCTUM

With a feeling of openness and serenity, the interior of the Hyundai Tucson blends technology, tactile sensations and design with an overall cocooning effect. Add a waterfall-like console with LED cabin lighting that can change depending on your mood. A new vertically-stacked 10.25-inch touchscreen display is devoid of buttons. Plenty of soft-touch material exists throughout the cabin. The Tucson’s second-row seats will feature fold-and-dive functionality, optimized for cargo adaptability and 38.7 cubic space of cargo room.

A new multi-air ventilation system is on board and provides a new and fresher ambiance. A new, open and hoodless digital gauge cluster helps to set the Tucson apart from other vehicles in the segment and help to provide a wow factor to go along with new, good looks.

MOTIVATION

Power for the Tucson comes from a choice of two engines. The base engine is the Smartstream 2.5-liter direct-injection four-cylinder gasoline engine. It produces 190 horsepower and 182 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The second mill is a 1.6-liter hybrid powertrain making 230 horsepower from the four-cylinder gasoline engine and the electric motor combined. This combo also makes 258 lb-ft of torque. The Hybrid system is mated to a continuously variable valve duration technology that adjusts valve timing through the engine’s cycle.

The new Hyundai Tucson also includes new E-Handling features for the HEV and PHEV models with improved steering and a new HTRAC all-wheel-drive system that has been tightened up over previous versions.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

The new Hyundai Tucson features all the other desirable features that today’s buyers are looking for. That’s why buyers will find Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in all models, as well as Bluetooth connectivity that allows wireless functionality. Audiophiles can take advantage of the BOSE Premium audio system and Tucson’s new Car-to-Home feature, which allows owners to remotely adjust the climate in their home before actually arriving.
