Hyundai Motor America introduced a stately new version of the new Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, Monday, June 2, 2020, in Seoul, South Korea. The redesigned fourth-generation Santa Fe stretches way beyond a facelift, offering a fresh look and feel that is visible from 200 feet away. It’s a premium look that is loaded with new value-added features that push the Santa Fe into an entirely new orbit.
“The bold lines that extend from one side to the other and from front to back give Santa Fe a rugged, yet refined look that SUV customers want,” said SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and head of Hyundai’s Global Design Center. “Besides, we’ve added numerous features and functions to create a truly family-focused SUV that is a pleasure to drive,” he added.
While not exactly alike, the Santa Fe’s new, wider grille pushes the envelope in much the same way the recently introduced Hyundai flagship Palisade does. Now extending across the entire width of the vehicle, it presides over a new lower air intake that helps to accentuate the Santa Fe’s new stance. The grille also integrates the headlamps, which is another characteristic found throughout the Hyundai lineup.
A seamless character line runs from the front Daylight Running Lights (DRL) to the rear tail lamps giving the new Hyundai Santa Fe SUV a long and lanky, as well as sporty look. Wheel arches are now designed to accommodate 20-inch alloy wheels. The Santa Fe’s redesigned tail lamps are now connected by a slim light bar that accentuates the wider appearance.
The new, redesigned interior now offers more space, convenience and comfort than any previous model. Featuring new, premium soft-touch materials throughout, it gives the effect of sitting in one’s living room rather than the front seat of a car.
Buttons are all logically placed on the newly redesigned center console, along with an updated gear selector switch pod that reflects a new way of doing business inside a Hyundai. Since the transmission is a “fly-by-wire” system, engineers were able to design a push-button arrangement instead of a standard gear selector lever or column-mounted stalk.
There’s also a new Terrain Mode Selector for the very first time in a Santa Fe. It’s a control knob on the center console that allows the driver to switch between different drive modes to find optimal settings when using the HTRAC all-wheel-drive system. Designed for a variety of driving situations, it includes specific modes for sand, snow and mud, in addition to eco, sport, comfort and smart modes. This smart mode tailors the drive settings to the habits of a specific driver.
In addition to all the other new tech on-board, the Santa Fe console includes an available 10.25-inch AVN (Audio, Video and Navigation) touchscreen display with complete in-car entertainment and connectivity features.
We hear from the Hyundai Mothership the new Santa Fe will hit dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2020. In the meantime, please continue to check out Napleton.news for breaking Hyundai news.
