DEBUT OF THE NEW INFINITI QX60 MONOGRAPH

The debut of the Infiniti QX60 Monograph concept is clear evidence that nothing lasts forever, including the design of a car, truck or SUV. But don’t consider this new QX60 as an etched-in-stone example of what the next QX60 will be. It may be close, but the reality is there’s still time for a few changes here and there before the assembly line begins to roll.

WHAT IS THE INFINITI QX60 MONOGRAPH ?

The new Infiniti QX60 Monograph is a design exercise that showcases the future design direction for this best-selling Infiniti three-row sport utility vehicle. Revealed at the new Global headquarters for the brand, the QX60 Monograph shows off the vehicle’s athleticism and sophistication, all at the same time. It’s rare to see wordplay like that in a single sentence, but after seeing these images, that’s all the folks at Napleton.news were able to say about it.

Even the reveal event was unique. Revealed in a multi-medium presentation that included an augmented-reality experience, it even allowed viewers to “place” a QX60 Monograph virtually in their driveways.

According to Infiniti, the QX60 Monograph is a look at what is influencing the production-bound vehicle, which is scheduled to be revealed in 2021, most likely as a 2022 model.

FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS

Infiniti QX60 Monograph points the direction for future styling.

The Infiniti QX60 Monograph is like a roadmap, showing the direction for future products, designs and philosophies. In this case, it showcases the bold new design that will be the next generation of QX60 three-row vehicles. It’s a daring look that feels muscular and even bulldog-like in stature, with a wide stance that is lower to the ground.

Featuring a powerful hood, muscular fenders and a long wheelbase and a sleek greenhouse, the Monograph is all wrapped up in a “reflective platinum hue.”

“We commenced the design of the Monograph knowing this was an opportune time to start a discussion about where we are planning to take the QX60 in the future, and more broadly, where we are heading as a brand with our design language,” said Alfonso Albaisa, senior VP for Global Design for Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. To that end, they raised the vehicle’s center of gravity. As a result, its entire presence is beefed up.

A CULTURAL VEHICLE

Cultural touchstones abound with the new Infiniti QX60 Monograph. There is a creative use of traditional Japanese Origami along the inner mesh of the “double arch” Infiniti grille. It’s a two-dimensional design with a three-dimensional appearance for additional depth. The pattern repeats itself in the side air intakes. A large panoramic sunroof, with a Kimono-fold pattern, offers a unique view from above. At both ends, Infiniti’s “digital piano key lighting” headlights and taillamps project a futuristic look at lighting that combines human artistry with the latest in technology.
