JEEP GRAND WAGONEER CONCEPT GIVES A GLIMPSE OF THE FUTURE

With the introduction of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer Concept, the iconic brand signifies its intention to enter the realm of the “American Premium” vehicle segment. It’s been a long time since the Wagoneer brand disappeared, but the Jeep brand feels the time is right to reintroduce the model. It’s the reason why luxury SUVs exist in the first place. Keep reading Napleton.news to find out more about this iconic rig.

THE JEEP GRAND WAGONEER CONCEPT SHOWS WHAT A PREMIUM SUV CAN BE

The all-new Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a precursor to what will become a portfolio of premium vehicles from the brand that brought you the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Gladiator and more. Based on a platform similar to that of the Ram 1500 pickup truck, it is designed to deliver capabilities, innovations and premium design cues to a new, distinctive and more affluent group of customers.

It is loaded with innovations, including an advanced hybrid-electric powertrain capable of on- or off-road performance. Production will begin in the Metro Detroit region next year.

“Our new Grand Wagoneer Concept marks the first step in the birth of Wagoneer,” said Christian Meunier, global president of the Jeep brand. “With electrification of each Jeep nameplate…and the introduction of the new Wagoneer, we are quickly expanding into new segments and more premium space.”

In addition to the electrified drivetrain and sophisticated off-roading system, the new Grand Wagoneer will include an available first-ever passenger display screen located just above the glove box.

Born in 1964, the Wagoneer was the first four-wheel-drive vehicle mated to an automatic transmission, which pioneered the first modern SUV. By 1984, it marked the start of the Premium SUV by introducing buyers to such features as leather upholstery, air conditioning, increased power and an AM/FM/CB (!) stereo radio.

The new Grand Wagoneer concept features a fully digital cockpit with easy-to-use screens with a limited number of buttons to instead focus drivers on the road rather than the dashboard. For the first time, ever, the Grand Wagoneer will include a spacious third row with seating for up to seven passengers.

VERY PARTICULAR PARTS

When the Jeep Grand Wagoneer begins to arrive in dealerships next year, it will feature three different types of available 4 x 4 powertrains and Quadra-Lift air suspension. Premium drive dynamics, courtesy of independent front and rear suspensions, superlative towing capabilities and advanced technology, connectivity and safety are all in the mix.

Second-row passengers enjoy up to 30 inches of total screen space, with each outboard seat facing available ten-inch screens, while there exists a third 10-inch screen on the center console. Audio is another area where the Jeep shines. This Wagoneer is the only vehicle in the World powered by famed McIntosh Audio, itself a famed American Luxury brand known for expertise in home audio. In this particular application, the system features 23 custom-designed speakers connected to a 24 channel amplifier for an unparalleled sound experience.

THE JEEP GRAND WAGONEER PREMIUM POWERTRAIN EXPERIENCE

Under the hood of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer Concept is a no-compromise plug-in hybrid-electric powertrain. It fits perfectly within the plan by Jeep brand officials who wish to offer electrification options on all models in the approaching years.

The idea behind these wishes is to modernize the brand so it can achieve its goals of becoming the leader in eco-friendly premium technology. It’s a plan that will bring the “most responsible” Jeep vehicles ever, with whisper-quiet open-air motoring and full 4 x 4 capabilities. Information from Jeep, says that these designs will bring an even a greater fun to drive experience on- and off-road.

STAY TUNED FOR MORE

We haven’t been given any engine or engine/power generator details for the Grand Wagoneer yet. But this Jeep Wagoneer rides on the Ram 1500 platform, so it should be in good company with the 3.6-liter V6 with “e-Torque” hybrid system. There’s also the “Big-Daddy” 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with e-Torque that will move things along with gusto.

Grand Wagoneer Concept hits the road.

Finally, based on current Ram engine offerings, we’d bet that there might even be a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 with e-Torque in this Jeep’s future as well. Continue to check Napleton.news for more information For more info about the Grand Wagoneer, go to the Jeep website.
