Jeep News & Reviews

The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer mix things up.

They are the flagships of the fleet: the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. They are also a great source of confusion in the general marketplace. In case you haven’t noticed, they have surprisingly similar names. But the Jeep brand wants you to know they are not the same vehicle. They want you to consider them part of their own sub-brand, so much so that they don’t even wear the Jeep nameplate on the vehicle.

Napleton News has had a chance to enjoy this new behemoth, which can be found here. According to MotorTrend magazine, the public isn’t differentiating between the two vehicles. Instead, most customers assume the only thing separating the two is the trim levels. They would be wrong.

2023 Wagoneer L Carbide

To be honest, the two Wagoneers have more than 30,000 rea$on$ to separate them from each other. One, the Wagoneer, is geared towards the mainstream customer. Think of the Chevrolet Tahoe buyer. The other, the Grand Wagoneer, runs parallel to the Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon Denali and the Lincoln Navigator.

What’s the difference between Jeep’s Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer?

2023 Grand Wagoneer L features the pinnacle of premium SUV interiors with a modern American style and Uconnect 5 12-inch touchscreen radio.

How do they measure up? The less expensive Wagoneer aims directly at the Suburban and Expedition buyers. Start with a basic engine package, a variety of interior options ranging from cloth to leather, a choice of audio systems and finally, a choice of powertrains.

The Grand Wagoneer is just that: Grander. Think of crystal bits in the cabin, open-pore wood veneers, choice leathers and more. It’s closer to a rolling palace than you may think.

Let’s add to the confusion.

In addition to the similarity, other parameters may add to the confusion. Case in point: Both models are offered in standard length versions. Both are available in Series I, II and III trims. And then next year comes the new Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L long-bodied versions with three rows of seats and extra cargo space behind the third row.

If there’s a Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer vehicle in your future, it’s a good idea to study up on your possibilities today.
