There’s a battle brewing between the Kia Sportage vs Nissan Rogue Sport. In the Compact Sport Utility Segment, these are two of the fiercest competitors in the market today. They battle it out daily on the roads and highways in an effort to win our hearts. Follow along with Napleton.news as we take a look at these worthy warriors.
In the battle for supremacy, the Kia Sportage vs Nissan Rogue Sport are both four-door, five-passenger hatchback Compact Crossover Utility Vehicles. They feature some of the latest, most appreciated features and technologies on the road today.
The Kia Sportage receives its motivation from a 2.4-liter four-cylinder, Gas Direct Injection engine producing 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The Sportage transfers that power to a six-speed automatic transmission. It is also offered with an optional 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 240 horsepower.
It is available in four trim levels ranging from base Sportage LX, Sportage S, Sportage EX and SX Turbo. All Sportage models offer standard front-wheel-drive (FWD) and can be ordered with optional all-wheel-drive (AWD), which may be helpful, depending on your location.
The Nissan Rogue Sport is powered by a singular naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to Nissan’s continuously-variable automatic transmission CVT.
The Rogue Sport is available as a base S model, the SV model and the SL model. All models can be had with an available all-wheel-drive system that adds $1,350 to each model. According to the experts at Kelley Blue Book, the Rogue Sport’s AWD system is “better suited to foul weather and dirt roads, not true off-roading.
Features in the Kia Sportage include actual buttons on the climate controls and audio system. All 2020 Sportage models will include 8-inch touch screen displays, as well as lane, keep-assist and automatic high-beam assist. The Sportage S goes a bit sportier, featuring paddle-shift levers, 18-inch wheels, and either leatherette or actual leather seating. An optional 320 Harman Kardon audio system is standard on the SX Turbo and optional on the EX. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available on all models.
The Nissan Rogue Sport includes a standard 7-inch touch-screen audio system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a rearview camera, Rear door alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and more. An available Around View Monitor gives the driver a bird’s-eye view of the vehicle’s surroundings allowing them to see objects or persons who may not be otherwise visible. Another safety option is ProPilot Assist. It’s an available suite of safeties that can monitor distracted driving, watch the lines on the highway and even monitoring the speed, slowing your vehicle to match the current speed of traffic around you.
The Nissan Rogue Sport should not be confused with its larger Nissan Rogue sibling. Though that model in base form is a five-passenger vehicle, it is also available in a three-row version with seating for seven. The Rogue Sport does, however, feel larger inside than it may actually be.
There are a wide variety of Crossovers and SUVs available in the market today. Chances are we sell almost all of them. Do your research and be sure to contact the Napleton Auto Group dealership near you for more information and a test drive!
