Kia is wasting no time. That’s why today they introduced the new Kia EV9. It’s the brand’s first three-row electric flagship SUV. It’s a pivotal step for the brand, which intends to become a fully sustainable mobility solutions provider. This new EV will be formally introduced to the public later this month. But Napleton News couldn’t wait to bring you the news today.
”The Kia EV9 breaks new ground, aiming to redefine standards for design, connectivity, usabilityand environmental responsibility,” said Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and head of Kia Global Design. “The Kia EV9 offers customers an exceptionally high quality proposition and a fresh EV perspective in the family SUV sector. This new vehicle typology provides instinctive experiences and excellent comfort for not just the driver, but all occupants, through innovative use of space, technology and design.”
Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy strives to create vehicles with unprecedented visual appeal. Its “Bold for Nature” pillar of ideology is inspired by the combination of elements from the material and natural worlds. The result is a vehicle that combines capability with calmness in a sophisticated package. It’s guaranteed to set the road map for future EV design.
The EV9 uses the brand’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) design layout. With its long wheelbase and completely flat electric vehicle powertrain, the company has created a livable space inside. It can be configured with six or seven passenger seating.
The front of the new EV9 includes simple clear-cut lines and body surfaces showing confidence, aggressiveness and even calmness. Seriously, it’s there. Just trust us. The front fascia features a new Digital Pattern Lighting Grille with vertical headlamps. The signature Kia face is here once again as the Digital Tiger Face. This time, the Tiger face includes two clusters of small cube lamps beside each headlamp. The designers finish the EV9 with their innovative Star Map LED daytime running lamp (DRL). These innovative lights bring an animated lighting pattern that will identify Kia’s Digital Tiger Face on the brand’s future EV models.
The rear of the EV9 features clean simple lines along its tailgate, with slim rear lights that reflect the design of those at the front.
The interior of the new Kia EV9 is really where this one shines. Kia held clinics with potential customers, asking them about seating, audio, and space. After seeing preliminary photos, we think they got it right. Guests can take advantage of lounge-style comfort with mid-row seats that can face forward or be turned to face the third-row passengers.
But the passengers aren’t the only ones enjoying the ride. Up front, the driver is greeted by a pair of 12.3-inch touch screen displays, with a five-inch segment display to improve the digital experience. These all go to keeping physical buttons to a minimum.
There so much more to learn about the new Kia EV9. As soon as we get inside one, you will hear our report. In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled here!
