Range Rover Sport

One of the sexier SUVs on the road today, the Range Rover Sport Autobiography continues on relatively unchanged for 2025. After its recent 2023 re-do, it is re-establishing itself as a go-to for the supermodel and influencer set. Since those of us here at Napleton News dabble a bit in those domains, we feel right at home behind the wheel of this sexy beast. Read on so we can tell you more about it.

What moves us…and the Range Rover Autobiography

The Range Rover line features several mild hybrid engines ranging from a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder to an ultra-high-performance 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 626 horsepower. Our Autobiography is equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that delivers 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. That’s go anytime-anywhere power and the fact it is a mild hybrid makes it even better. The Hybrid electric motor is powered by a Lithium-ion traction battery with 0.2 kWh capacity.

This Ranger sends its torque from the engine to an eight-speed automatic transmission with an electronic transfer case. The suspension is automatic with height adjustment and a sport-tuned predictive adaptive suspension.

How does the Autobiography look?

2025 Range Rover Sport hits the twisties.

Sleek, smooth and more svelte than a flying brick has any right to be. And face it, that’s what a typical SUV has as part of its design. But in this case, Range Rover designers have done their homework in an effort to shave things down. That means rounded edges, disappearing door handles and more.

What about inside this Range Rover Sport?

It’s pretty luxurious inside. There’s no question about that. Think about it: This thing has massaging front seats! There’s a configurable digital dashboard that is adaptable to your needs. A largish infotainment screen holds sway over the center console and we especially like the adjustable armrests.

Audio duties are handled by a 1600-watt Meridian stereo system with headrest-mounted speakers and noise cancellation. Think of the interior of the Ranger as a larger than life set of Bose noise cancelling headphones.

The rear seats are comfortable for the long haul. They will hold three in the second row but two actually feel much better.

The noise from the starter is almost unheard. But once the engine kicks to life it offers a gurgling that belies what’s underneath. And that is a bundle of power. The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 kicks off with 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Once we back out of the drive, we can feel the air suspension lowering the car. It’s a help when negotiating twisties.

Once underway, we found a quiet ride that offered good handling and the ability to whip wheel at will. Thinking to ourselves, that we want to be in the next lane, in front of the slower car we were passing, it was almost as if the Sport just upped and put us there.

The high-performance suspension performed to the hilt when we were passing slow-moving northerners starting leaving the state. One poker in particular was trying to tuck in behind a tractor trailer but wasn’t quite getting it going. Once he tucked in enough, we managed to get past the offending driver and the truck. The on-ramp to the turnpike was quickly approaching. All it took was a stab at the accelerator and an aggressive whip of the wheel. The Ranger tucked in and managed to round the turn in no time.

This Range Rover Sport really manages to emphasize its sporting roots.
