The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. We at Napleton News are gluttons for a good time behind the wheel. We have always been fans of the Dodge Durango. So when Dodge engineers, who obviously had too much free time on their hands, decided to stuff 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI engine under the hood of a Durango, of course, we were chuffed!
Come on now. Who wouldn’t get excited over an SUV that packs a punch to the tune of 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque? Mate it to a super-fast shifting eight-speed Torqueflite automatic transmission, add three rows of seats and introduce it to its Dodge Challenger and Charger siblings. There’s a whole lotta horsepower going on here!
With all that power under the hood, it’s no wonder the new Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is a terror on the strip. It comes right off the assembly line with a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds. That’s near supercar territory! The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) has certified the Durango Hellcat can turn a quarter-mile elapsed time in 11.5-seconds and has a top speed of 180 miles per hour when all is said and done.
On a 2.1-mile road course, the Durango SRT Hellcat runs that lap 1.5 seconds faster than the SRT 392. After one lap, that’s the equivalent of nine full car lengths.
The new Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat has borrowed some of the Dodge Charger Widebody design cues for an extra dose of aggression. Add to that a performance-inspired interior with a new instrument panel and the new and improved Uconnect 5 system with its largest-in-class 10.1-inch touchscreen display. It’s the perfect muscle SUV for muscle car people with families. That. Is. All.
Just remember, if you want a Durango SRT Hellcat, you had better be quick. Although there is no limit on how many will be built, construction will only occur for the 2021 model year. So step right up to your nearest Napleton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership today.
