Brie Larson recently teamed up with Nissan to create an inspiring ad about empowerment. The 30-second spot shows the actress from “Captain Marvel” driving confidently behind the wheel of a 2020 Nissan Sentra.
The commercial spot begins with an employee and her boss having a conversation on the street. The employee is being brushed off by her boss regarding a promotion, and that’s when Larson zooms up next to the pair, encouraging the disgruntled office worker to hop into the car.
Before she can accept the reality that she is not going to get a raise in pay and climb the corporate ladder, Larson shows off the versatile capabilities of the car and asks the rhetorical question, “If this Nissan Sentra isn’t going to make any compromises, then why should you?”
This ad is part of Nissan’s “Refuse to Compromise” campaign, demonstrating that the Sentra is capable of performing at a high level, refusing to succumb to the narrative of being a typical, unremarkable sedan.
In today’s world, those who have been overlooked in the past are finally getting a chance to speak up and have their voices be heard. Even those who don’t belong to a widely recognized marginalized group are being challenged to punch back and fight for what is rightfully theirs.
“It’s great to partner with Nissan on this inspiring campaign which is essentially about advocating for yourself and believing that you deserve a seat at the table,” said Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson. “It’s a powerful message in a bottle that I’m so proud to be a part of.”
The commercial began airing today exclusively on Twitter. Social media users across the country will be able to see the ad near the top of their feed through Twitter’s First View. The spot launches on national television next week, along with behind-the-scenes footage on Nissan channels.
“Brie Larson is a strong and ground-breaking woman, who found fantastic success in the entertainment industry thanks to her unwavering spirit,” said Allyson Witherspoon, vice president, Marketing Communications and Media, Nissan North America.
“Nissan didn’t compromise with the all-new Sentra and with this campaign, we are communicating what makes the car stand out, and I hope we’re inspiring customers to be bold and brave, just like our newest sedan,” she continued.
Take a look at the spot below and get inspired to refuse to compromise in your everyday life.
