TOYOTA ISSUES SAFETY RECALLS

With its customer’s safety being Job 1, Toyota is conducting a Toyota Safety Recall campaign involving models of the popular 2011-2019 Model Year Corolla, 2011-2013 Matrix, 2012-2018 Avalon and 2013-2018 Avalon Hybrid vehicles in the United States. This recall affects approximately 2.9 million vehicles.

At Napleton.news, our duty is to not only keep you informed of the latest offerings from the brands we sell, but to also let you know of any safety campaigns that may exist for your new vehicle.

2016 Toyota Avalon

The Toyota Safety Recall centers around vehicles equipped with an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) from a specific original equipment manufacturer (OEM). When these units operate correctly, they are designed to receive crash sensor signals and deploy the airbags and seat belt pretensioners as required, all in a matter of milliseconds. According to Toyota, the ECU may receive electronic “noise” that may occur in certain types of crashes, including what they call “severe underride crashes,” which involves a car or SUV riding up under a truck. This could lead to incomplete deployment or no deployment at all of the airbags, which can increase the overall severity of a crash injury.

INSTALLED AT NO CHARGE

Toyota will notify owners of the affected vehicles via First Class mail by the middle of March. Toyota dealerships, including Napleton’s Toyota of Urbana (IL) and Napleton’s Toyota of Brookfield (WI), will inspect and install, if necessary, the noise filters that will correct the ECU operation, at no charge to the vehicle owners.

2014 Toyota Corolla

Toyota owners wishing to find out if their vehicles are affected on these and other safety recalls may visit the Toyota.com/recall website or the nhtsa.gov/recalls website. There, they can enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information to determine if it falls within the class of affected vehicles.

At Napleton Auto Group, we stand behind what we sell. For more information on the safety features of your new Toyota, or to learn of the specifics of these and of any other safety recalls, please make an appointment with our service department experts today.

I've loved everything on wheels: Trains, Planes and definitely Automobiles. I am constantly in search of the latest in new technology, which makes our lives better each day, but will always respect the classics. You can't continue forward without first taking a look back at where you've been.
