Automobility LA 2021 is a wrap. Sure, it lacked a large number of reveals as in years past. But what it didn’t have in quantity, it made up for in quality. Follow along with us at Napleton News. You’ll see why we truly love LA!
The Fisker Ocean EV is a new luxury electric SUV by famed automotive designer Henrik Fisker. He is well-known for his designs for BMW, Aston Martin and the eponymous Fisker Karma. The Fisker Ocean EV is designed to be both sustainable and innovative at the same time. It includes recycled materials and a platform architecture jointly developed by Fisker and Magna Steyr.
Power for the base Ocean will come from a single electric motor delivering 275 horsepower. The upper-level Ultra, Extreme and Ocean One models will deliver up to 550 horsepower and can tick off a 0-to-60 mph run in 3.6 seconds. Maximum towing capacity tops out at an impressive 4,000 pounds.
The Fisker Ocean will start sales in November 2022.
Dodge revealed the new Challenger and Charger SRT Jailbreak models at Automobility LA 2021. They are based on the Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody models. The new Jailbreak models unlock a variety of color combinations and several factory-custom options. More importantly for power users, the Jailbreak models include unique badging and boosted output to the tune of 807 horsepower.
In addition to the power boost, the Jailbreak models include many personalization choices. These include seven wheel options, exterior badging choices, seating options and more. The choices seem limited only by a buyer’s imagination.
The Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat Jailbreak models will be on sale in late 2021.
Ambitious Vietnamese automaker VinFast introduced two electric Sport Utility Vehicles at the Automobility LA 2021 show. The VinFast e35 EV and VinFast e36 EV were revealed for the first time, each with different characteristics. The new VinFast vehicles were designed by the famed Italian stylist Pininfarina. Company estimates claim the e35 has a range of 310 miles. The e36, with its larger batteries, is good for up to 422 miles. The two EVs integrate Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems like Lane Assist, Collision Warning, Driver Monitoring, Automated Parking. The VinFast vehicles also include smart-infotainment and voice assistance, virtual assistants and e-commerce services.
It’s the first time we have ever heard of a Vietnamese automaker. You can never have too many manufacturers, ever, right? The VinFast company said ordering will begin in the first quarter of 2022, with deliveries occurring in fall 2022.
That’s it from Los Angeles for another year. Check Napleton News for details on these vehicles and other new automotive news from around the world!
