Automotive News Wrap-Up for Napleton News

Every now and then, we pause to perform an Automotive News Wrap-Up. Everyone needs to step back and take a breath. The hard workers at Napleton News are no different. With that, let’s take a look at what’s news today.

Automotive News Wrap-Up 1: Ford deliveries delayed by Blue Oval Shortage

Ford Motor Co shares dropped on Friday following a report in The Wall Street Journal that the company held back deliveries of their vehicles because they didn’t have the Blue Oval badge on the vehicle.

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning looks good on or off-road.

Ford is currently in the midst of supply constraints with the blue oval-shaped badges and some specific model badges. The famed oval-shape badge is the one featuring the Ford script logo that is regularly seen on the hood or grille of a wide variety of vehicles. These shortages coincide with others that are crimping supplies of semiconductor chips, wire harnesses and even some raw materials. It’s not that Ford can’t make the badges, it’s that the suppliers are unable to provide enough of them to the automaker.

Ford reports these delays have resulted in nearly 45,000 vehicles not shipping to dealerships. Many of them include Ford’s well-known F-150 pickup trucks.

Auto News Wrap-Up 2: Genesis GV60 versus the Electric Vehicle World

Hagerty Drivers Club ace Jason Cammisa is known around the world for his humorously informative videos on the HDC website and YouTube. Today we stumbled across one of his latest videos involving a drag race. It’s not just any drag race, though. This one is between the Genesis GV60 and the rest of the EV world. Well, not all the EV world, but against some stout runners in the field. But he holds back a surprise: A non-EV interloper tries to barge its way into the field. We’re talking about a Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray Z51. It’s a bit over 9 minutes long, but time well spent if you follow the emerging EV market.

Normally, we would tell you to find the video on YouTube. But us swells at Napleton News have done you a solid and placed the video for you to see in its entirety below.
