Bentley Unveils $1.9 Million Mulliner Bacalar

Bentley has finally revealed the all-new Mulliner Bacalar, a $1.9 million open-topped coupe whose interior is made from wood that is over 5,000 years old.

This limited edition two-seater is the rarest Bentley to date, with only 12 models set to be manufactured out of the automaker’s plant in Crewe, England.

Bentley describes the Mulliner Bacalar as the ultimate expression of two-seat, open-air luxury. The British automaker goes on to say, “this definitive Grand Tourer spearheads a return to coachbuilding by Bentley Mulliner – the oldest coachbuilder in the world.”

One of the most important things to note about Bentley’s newest feat in engineering is that the model is a true open-top, not a convertible. With no retractable roof or mechanism to protect the interior, the Mulliner Bacalar is best left inside the garage in the event of inclement weather.

The wood used on the dashboard of the Mulliner Bacalar is over 5,000 years old

When the weather does cooperate, drivers will enjoy a 12-cylinder engine and 8-speed transmission capable of garnering up to 650 horsepower. With a wide, muscular stance, the all-new coupe exudes strength and speed to a degree that is unlike anything we’ve ever seen from the luxury automaker.

“Bacalar is a rare and remarkable Bentley, and whilst clearly defined, will be an extraordinary and collaborative experience for just twelve discerning people who will now co-create, collect, drive and treasure one of twelve being built,” said Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors.

All 12 Mulliner Bacalar models have been pre-sold to private customers. Each new owner will work directly with Bentley Motors to customize every component of the car, from the exterior paint color to select interior fabrics.

Letting the new owners have a say in what their model will look like is a big part of the customer experience at Bentley.

“Our customers are as excited as we are about Bacalar, as it brings our team and discerning enthusiasts together, to create the finest bespoke, hand-built cars, and push the boundaries of our imagination and capabilities,” said Hallmark.
