The new 2024 Kia EV9 is the latest electric vehicle from Kia and the first three-row EV SUV offering premium accommodations and adventure capabilities rivaling ultra-luxury SUVs. Napleton News is always looking for a way to get charged up and the EV9 is just the vehicle to do it.
“With the launch of the EV9, we are incorporating our experience in producing brilliantly designed, best-in-class SUVs with our deep expertise in developing the industry’s leading EVs,” said Sean Yoon, president and CEO, Kia North America and Kia America. “The EV9 is a credible, high-value SUV that encapsulates our approach to bringing innovative, consumer-focused products to market with a serious commitment to electrification.”
The new 2024 Kia EV9 shows the direction the company will head in their pursuit of EV dominance. One key point: It is the first three-row SUV in the Kia brand. This allows owners to bring the entire family along, whether across town or cross-country. It features a large interior, towing capabilities and plenty of cargo space. Add segment-above interior appointments and fast charge capabilities to sweeten the deal even more.
The Kia EV9 uses the proven E-GMP architecture with new fourth-generation battery technology. It rides on an extended length wheelbase and flat floor platform that reminds us of a skateboard. The EV9 is equipped for over-the-air updates and utilizes an onboard power generator. The EV9 includes standard 800V electrical architecture for rapid charging. With this 800V system, it is possible to go from a 10-to-80 percent state of charge in under 25 minutes, depending on charging device. We know how erratic chargers can be so as we say in the business, your mileage may vary.
It’s the largest and current flagship in the Kia lineup. Featuring a new, muscular stance, with dynamic lines. It also features the new Kia logo as its North Star. It relies on the simplicity of shapes and designs found in nature and, as depicted in the Concept EV9 prototype.
The EV9 measures 197.4 inches in length, which is slightly longer than the gas-burning Kia Telluride. With the three rows in an upright position, there is 20.2 cubic feet of cargo room behind the third row seat. Fold the other two rows down and that space grows to 81.9 cubic feet.
With its new fourth-generation battery technology, the 2024 Kia EV9 offers improved energy density with quicker charging and power delivery. Standard power is from a 76.1 kWh battery with a 160-kW (215 hp) motor driving the rear wheels. An available 99.8-kWh battery in single motor configuration will drive the rear wheels with a targeted 300 miles of all-electric range. A dual-motor option is also on tap, delivering 283-kW (379-hp). Torque Vectoring all-wheel drive with 516 lb-ft of torque.
The formal debut of the new Kia EV9 will be in quarter four of 2023. The vehicle will be built, subject to approval, at Kia’s state-of-the-art factory based in West Point, Georgia. Other details are pending.
