The New 2023 Mazda CX-50.

Mazda CX-50 Crossover SUV

Wednesday, January 26, 2022, saw the first new 2023 Mazda CX-50 drive off the assembly line at Mazda’s new Huntsville, Alabama plant. MNAO President and CEO Jeff Guyton did the honors from behind the wheel at the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) plant. The plant is a 2.3 billion joint venture between Mazda Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation. The Mazda CX-50 is a crossover SUV made specifically for the North American market.

“The production of the CX-50 here signifies the importance of the North American Market to Mazda and our commitment to investing in the U.S.,” said Guyton.

MTM operations

The Mazda Toyota Manufacturing plant came online in September 2021. It will produce up to 300,000 vehicles per year, rolling out approximately 150,000 per brand annually. The plant will employ more than 4,000 workers at the factory, with several thousand more working for parts suppliers in the surrounding area. About the Mazda CX-50

All-new, rugged and capable, the 2023 Mazda CX-50 is the brand’s latest crossover SUV. Known for its enthusiastic driving dynamics and engaging design, the Mazda CX-50 can take drivers further off-road than ever before. Just because it’s new doesn’t mean they left out the Zoom-Zoom.

As are all-new Mazda CUVs, the CX-50 will include standard i-Activ All-Wheel Drive (AWD). Buyers will choose between Mazda Intelligent Drive Select or Mi-Drive. These drive modes will help the crossover SUV drive naturally in various conditions, including towing and off-road terrain.

Power comes from a choice of naturally-aspirated or turbocharged Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter inline-4 engines mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. There are future plans to deliver the CX-50 with an electrified powertrain, as well as a typical hybrid arrangement. More information is upcoming.

Interior design

The interior of the Mazda CX-50 features a driver-focused layout with the company’s first-ever panoramic moonroof. The cargo area includes an easy-to-load design oriented toward those who like having their fun outdoors. On top, high-strength roof rails and reinforced b-pillars add to the carrying utility of the CX-50.

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 will be available for sale in Spring 2022.

I've loved everything on wheels: Trains, Planes and definitely Automobiles. I am constantly in search of the latest in new technology, which makes our lives better each day, but will always respect the classics. You can't continue forward without first taking a look back at where you've been.
