A Preview: The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV

It was the Best or Nothing, as the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV was introduced. The brand calls it one of the most spacious new electric SUVs in its class, yet it comes in with a smaller footprint than the EQE sedan. At 119.3 inches, its wheelbase is 3.5 inches shorter than the EV sedan. At Napleton News, we are always up for some innovative new wheels. Let’s see what Mercedes has up their sleeves now.

The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV has a range of 342 miles

A long-ranger with the capability to go 342 miles on a single charge, the new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is up to the task. Mercedes claims that the AMG EQE will get less range, naturally. Its lithium-ion batteries consist of a group of 10 modules. Over-the-air updates will work to keep the battery management software in check and up-to-date throughout the EQE’s life cycle.

In addition to that most important feature, M-B is including standard equipment like Active Brake Assist, a Parking Package with Surround-View cameras and Active Lane Keeping Assist. The company plans to offer more in the optional Driver Assistance Package.

Refined Suspension=Added Agility.

Mercedes-Benz engineers have been working overtime to sort the EQE suspension. The result is a four-link kit in the front and an independent multi-link suspension at the rear. It immediately lends an air of agility to the package but just in case you need more, there is the available Airmatic air suspension with adjustable dampers. The EQE can be raised an inch for added clearance. A Dynamic Select program is available. It features ECO, COMFORT, SPORT and INDIVIDUAL for “on the fly” changes as road conditions change.

Coming to you on a dusty road. It’s the new EQE SUV.

We aren’t sure the EQE will be offered with 4Matic like all the other M-B vehicles available in the United States. But if it does, it will include the OFFROAD program for off-road driving. Rear wheel steering is an available option that pivots the rear axle up to 10 degrees and helps to cut through a corner faster.

Clever route planning

The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV utilizes Navigation with Electric Intelligence. This innovative system finds the fastest, most convenient route, complete with charging stops along the way. It’s so advanced, it can react dynamically to traffic jams or a change in driving styles. It can also calculate the time involved and the expected costs at a specific charging station.

In other words, the new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV may be smarter than you are!

I've loved everything on wheels: Trains, Planes and definitely Automobiles. I am constantly in search of the latest in new technology, which makes our lives better each day, but will always respect the classics. You can't continue forward without first taking a look back at where you've been.
