FCA CORONAVIRUS RELIEF ACTIONS

First Responder Masks

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) announced two new Coronavirus relief actions on Friday, March 27, that will work to provide support for first responders in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak. The second initiative will help provide millions of meals to school children until their schools return to session.

At Napleton.news, we have reported in the past about the good efforts by many auto manufacturers. They constantly remind us that it’s not just about the cars, trucks and SUVs they make, but also the communities they serve.

JOB 1: FIRST RESPONDER SUPPORT

FCA CEO Mike Manley described how the company is in the process of re-purposing its first plant to manufacture and donate more than one million protective face masks per month. Production lines and equipment are being installed this week with plans to start making face masks in the coming weeks that will see first distribution across the United States, Canada and Mexico, with plans to expand across the world.

Said FCA’s Manley, “Protecting our first responders and health care workers has never been more important. In addition to the support we are giving to increase the production of ventilators (in Italy), we canvassed our contacts across the healthcare industry and it was very clear there is an urgent and critical need for face masks,” he stated. “We’ve marshalled the resources of the FCA Group…for making masks and supporting those most in need on the front line of this pandemic.”

In addition to the manufacturing of face masks, FCA is also gearing up to supply a range of logistical, technical and manufacturing support for medical and personal protective equipment (PPE). Together with their engineering department, they are working to assist an Italian ventilator manufacturer in helping expedite the service. Currently, FCA is already working with other manufacturers to produce ventilators, medical equipment and other PPE.

FOOD PROGRAM SUPPORT

FCA is doing its part to expand its charitable giving efforts to help supply charities who are providing meals and food services. The recipients are children whose regular food programs were canceled or shutdown due to the complications of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic that has gripped the world. For some children, the meals they receive at school or in an after-school program are the only meals they receive each day.

“In this time of need, we’ve focused our resources on those actions we can implement quickly and that will have the greatest impact, as we did in Italy as soon as the emergency started,” Manley said.

FCA is the global automaker that designs, engineers and manufacturers Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, Jeep and Maserati vehicles.

“Our family is proud to be associated with such a forward-thinking auto manufacturing brand as FCA,” said Eddie Napleton, Jr.,  “Hopefully, this will soon be over,” he added, “but it’s just another reminder that we are all in this together.”
