2019 In Review: Our Favorite Moments

It is the final day of 2019, the perfect time to reflect on what made the last year of the decade so special.

If you have been keeping up with us here at Napleton News, you know firsthand there has been no shortage of new model releases, automotive news, shows, and more for the past 52 weeks. It’s simply too much to go through all at once.

Enter obligatory year-in-review post.

Every time I do something like this, I don’t have to scroll back very far before the memories come flooding back. It’s a wonderful time to feel nostalgic about the past 12 months as each time I come across another headline I remember that “Oh yeah, that happened.”

Hopefully, I’m not the only one that’s too forgetful. As Kenny Powers from Eastbound & Down once said, “I have a lot of memories in my life and sometimes you have to dump the small ones to make room for the bigger ones.”

And that’s what reflecting on our favorite memories of 2019 is all about.

This post is intended to take only the most noteworthy stories and moments and collect them for you right here in a tidy package that summarizes the best parts of 2019 as it relates to the automotive industry, and more specifically, Napleton News.

We will be recapping brand-new models that came out, sharing first-drive reviews, and even include a few special moments that made this year one to remember. Let’s get started.

Napleton Acquires Its First Mercedes Dealership

The Ed Napleton Automotive Group acquired Mercedes of Rochester in the fall of 2019, making it the first Mercedes brand dealership in the company. Coupling the philosophy of Napleton with the elevated brand of Mercedes is a perfect pairing that will benefit car shoppers and employees for years to come.

Hyundai Releases The Palisade

Out is the Santa Fe XL and in is the first-ever Hyundai Palisade. Named after the Pacific Palisades in Southern California, the three-row SUV offers an affordable option for families looking to travel in style. Its modern look and feel is the perfect model to usher in the new year.

We Visited The BMW Welt & Museum In Munich

Touring the BMW Welt & Museum exceeded all of my expectations. The best part about walking through this gorgeous campus and facility is that you don’t have to be BMW-obsessed or even a huge car fan to genuinely enjoy yourself there.

A Set Of 65-Year-Old Twins Found Each Other Again

Vintage cars are rare. What’s even more uncommon is to find two that were cut from the same cloth (or metal) in the same place at the same time. This happened over the summer when two 1954 Silver Arrow models were spotted in northeastern Florida.

The First-Ever BMW X7 Exceeds Expectations

A test drive of the BMW X7 proved that the luxury German automaker can make a three-row SUV with swagger. This debut model has all the power, technology, and looks you could possibly want to make every trip an exciting one.

Westmont Porsche Unveils The 2020 911 Carrera

Napleton Westmont Porsche held an invite-only event for fans of the brand to get a first glimpse of the 2020 911 Carrera. Improving one of the most iconic sports cars in the world seems like a tall order, but the newest edition comes with some surprising new features.

Corvette C8 Stingray Convertible Fits In At Kennedy Space Center

The Kennedy Space Center was the scene for Chevy to unveil the 2020 Corvette C8 Stingray Convertible. With a futuristic look and feel, one might think that it’s something NASA might have designed. Alas, it’s just the new Corvette and we can drive it here on earth.

Mercedes Is Helping Tackle Gender Stereotypes

As the world we live in becomes more progressive, the automotive industry is following suit. Mercedes teamed up with Mattel this year to champion young girls and their future.

Land Rover Defender Returns To U.S. For The First Time In Two Decades

Land Rover is a fan favorite in the SUV market and its signature model, the Defender, is coming back to the United States for the first time in 21 years.

Chevrolet Suburban Celebrates 85 Years Of Excellence

With the longest-running nameplate on the market, the Chevy Suburban has seen a level of consistent success that is simply unmatched in the automotive industry.

With so many new models and moments set for 2020, we already know that the upcoming year is going to be another one for the record books. We hope that you will stick around with us to enjoy the ride. And most importantly, we sincerely wish you a healthy and happy New Year.
